This morning enjoy a self guided visit of the Orsay Museum, world-renowned for its Impressionist art, but it began as the Gare d'Orsay, a grand Beaux-Arts railway station built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Designed by Victor Laloux, the station was a marvel of modern efficiency until 1939, when its platforms became too short for modern trains, leading to its abandonment. Saved from demolition in the 1970s, it was transformed into a museum, officially opening in December 1986 to house French art from 1848 to 1914.
Or instead of visiting the Orsay Museum, you may choose to visit the Galleria Palace / Paris Fashion Museum, housed in a 19th century renaissance style palace, which showcases French fashion from the 18th century to the present through temporary exhibitions, its extensive collection includes around 200,000 items, featuring historical costumes, accessories, and works by famous designers like Dior, Chanel and Saint Laurent.
